Direct Booking Engine Web Platform for an Independent Boutique Hotel

Overview

Built a direct booking engine for an independent boutique hotel that had been relying almost entirely on third-party travel sites, paying steep commission on nearly every reservation. The platform shows real-time room availability and rates pulled from the hotel's existing property management system, letting guests book directly on the hotel's own branded website. We built in a rate-parity-aware pricing display so the hotel could offer a modest direct-booking incentive without violating its listing agreements with other channels. The booking flow was designed to be fast and mobile-friendly, since a majority of the hotel's site traffic was coming from phones. We built a direct booking engine pulling real-time availability and rates from the hotel's existing property management system, with a rate-parity-aware pricing display letting the hotel offer a modest direct-booking incentive without violating other channel agreements. We reviewed the hotel's existing channel agreements closely to design an incentive structure that wouldn't violate rate-parity terms, then built the booking flow mobile-first given the majority of site traffic. It launched quietly before being promoted more heavily once availability sync was confirmed reliable. An estimated 20% of bookings shifted away from commission-based third-party sites onto the hotel's own direct channel within the first two quarters, meaningfully reducing commission costs.
