Overview

Built an iOS and Android ordering app for a fast-casual restaurant franchise so customers could order ahead, customize items, and pay before arriving at any franchise location. Orders route automatically to the correct location's kitchen based on the customer's selected pickup spot, and the app remembers favorite orders to speed up repeat purchases. This gave the franchise its own branded ordering channel instead of relying entirely on third-party delivery apps that took a meaningful cut of every order and owned the customer relationship. We built the app to support the franchise's growing number of locations without requiring a rebuild each time a new location opens. A fast-casual restaurant franchise relied entirely on third-party delivery apps for online orders, which took a meaningful cut of every order and owned the customer relationship instead of the franchise. We built an iOS and Android app supporting order-ahead, customization, and payment before arrival, with orders routed automatically to the correct location's kitchen and built to scale to new locations without a rebuild each time. We designed the location-routing architecture first, since the franchise's growth plans meant new locations would be added regularly after launch. The app launched at a handful of locations as a pilot, validating kitchen-routing accuracy before rolling out to the full franchise network. The franchise shifted a meaningful share of order volume onto its own branded app, reducing third-party delivery platform fees and rebuilding the direct customer relationships those platforms had been standing between.
