Cross-Platform Crew Scheduling App for a Multi-City Janitorial Franchise

Overview

Built a crew scheduling app for a janitorial franchise operating in several cities, giving each location's manager a simple way to build weekly schedules and giving crew members a mobile view of their own shifts and site assignments. Crew members can request shift swaps directly in the app, which routes to their manager for approval instead of being handled over group text messages. This addressed a recurring headache across the franchise's locations: schedule changes getting lost in messaging threads and crews showing up confused about assignments. The app was built to work the same way across every franchise location while still letting each manager set their own scheduling rules. We interviewed managers across several franchise locations to understand where group-text scheduling was breaking down most, then designed the swap-approval flow around those specific failure points. The app launched in two pilot locations before rolling out franchise-wide with a short manager training session. Scheduling-related no-shows and confusion dropped across locations, and franchise managers now have a consistent scheduling tool instead of relying on ad hoc group chats that regularly lost information.
